In terms of horsepower, the modern generation of muscle cars has been getting more and more insane. Ford’s new Mustang Cobra Jet is shooting for about 580 horsepower, and Dodge’s “Drag Pack” Challenger, too, with about 600 horsepower. Ford and Dodge were quick to create these factory beasts in an attempt to gain muscle car supremacy, but where is the Camaro in this bloody battle? Sure, Chevrolet has the ZL1 Camaro that will be pushing 580 horses, but it’s not really considered proper competition for the drag-ready Challenger and Mustang.
Rumor has it though, that Chevrolet has begun developing a ZL1-based Camaro that will more than likely be placed into the Stock Eliminator division. Details on the rumored Camaro are few and far between, but it probably isn’t a stretch of the imagination that it’ll be making over 600 horsepower.
